Full-Time Chair

The Forest Practices Board is seeking its next Chair. This is a full-time leadership role guiding BC's independent watchdog for forest and range practices. The Chair plays a central role in strengthening public trust in how the province's forests and range lands are managed.

Key Responsibilities

The Chair of the Forest Practices Board provides strategic leadership and ensures the Board delivers its independent oversight mandate under the Forest and Range Practices Act and the Wildfire Act. Responsibilities include:

• Leading independent audits, investigations, special reports, and public complaint reviews.
• Ensuring transparent, timely public reporting and evidence-based Board determinations.
• Chairing consensus-based Board meetings and supporting strong governance, policy, and organizational practices.
• Building respectful relationships with Indigenous governments, provincial agencies, stakeholders, and the public.
• Representing the Board at public events and through media engagement.
• Supporting recruitment processes for Board members and senior staff.

Term, Location & Compensation

• Salary: $171,625 – $196,140
• Full-time position
• Term: Appointed by Order-in-Council for an initial term of 3 to 5 years and, with the possibility of reappointment for additional terms of up to 5 years. 
• Work environment: Flexible and remote-friendly, with scheduling that can be adapted to the needs of the Chair.
