Forest Practices Board to audit range practices near Grand Forks, Revelstoke
Summary
VICTORIA – The Forest Practices Board will audit range planning and practices on four agreements held by George Robert Davidson and Graham’s Farms Ltd.
Two range agreement areas are near Bridge, BC, approximately 80 kilometres west of Grand Forks. The other two are approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Revelstoke, on the eastern shore of Upper Arrow Lake.
Auditors will examine whether approved range use plans are being followed and whether riparian areas, fish habitat, upland ecosystems, fencing and other range developments are being appropriately managed.
The audit will take place within the territories of Adams Lake Indian Band, ʔakisq’nuk First Nation, ʔaq̓am, Lower Similkameen Indian Band, Neskonlith Indian Band, Okanagan Indian Band, Osoyoos Indian Band, Shuswap Band, Sinixt Confederacy, Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw, snpink'tn Indian Band, Splatsin, Upper Nicola Band, yaqan nukiy and Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi‘it First Nation.
Once the audit is complete, the Board will prepare a report. Parties that may be adversely affected by the findings will have an opportunity to respond before the final report and any recommendations are released publicly.
The Forest Practices Board is BC’s independent watchdog for sound forest and range practices. Auditees are selected using a modified random sampling method, without considering past performance or public complaints.
