Habitat Retention and Mountain Pine Beetle Salvage in the Fly Hills

December 11, 2006
Natural Resource Region: thompson-okanagan
District: okanagan-shuswap

A trapper in the Fly Hills area, southwest of Salmon Arm, complained that salvage logging due to the mountain pine beetle epidemic was impacting marten habitat. The complainant was concerned that areas that would make good habitat corridors might be logged before retention plans were done.

The Board conducts its work throughout British Columbia, and we respectfully acknowledge the territories of the many Indigenous Peoples who have lived on these lands since time immemorial.
